Point in canon taken from: Future Arc.
Appearance: Formerly wearing the Kokuyou uniform, Mukuro from the future wears a long black trenchcoat, white tee, black [loose] tie, long boots [up to the knee] and black ~~leather~~ pants. Also has one red eye with kanji 'six' on it and one blue eye. Dark blue hair often mistaken for black hair. [Has a long tied up low ponytail at the back with a steel... something D: ]
Personality : Mukuro is often seen with a smirk or a smile on his face, and lesser of other expressions. [Good at masking emotions.][Also has weird laughter like ‘Kufufufu.’ And ‘Kuhahaha...! >D’] It is a known fact that Mukuro does not hesitate to ‘dispose’ of others when it comes to achieving his ambitions. [Merciless, apathetic, sly, intelligent, witty, and claims that humans are ‘toys’ or ‘dolls’.] Despite that, his actions sometimes prove otherwise. [Not entirely unaffected by others.] He also has a rather dramatic way of presenting himself. [Cue the mist, and how he appeared in the Varia arc. (“I have returned from the depths of hell...”) He is not easily intimidated, and often uses an arrogant and direct manner.
History : Mukuro first appeared in Reborn! as the manga/anime’s first real ‘bad guy’, along with several subordinates [Chikusa, Ken, M.M, Birds, *something* Twins, Lancia] where Tsuna later defeats him by gaining new strength. [Hyper Dying Will] A flashback scene shows Mukuro’s past, where he, along with Chikusa and Ken, came from the Estraneo Family, in which experiments were done on them. Mukuro, with his abilities, killed their captors, and asked if Ken and Chikusa were to join him in his ambition to destroy the ‘insignificant’ world. Not long after, Mukuro was adopted into a Mafia family in Northern Italy. Unknown to the family, Mukuro was controlling Lancia with his ability of possession and used him to kill others, eventually killing his own family. Since then, Mukuro had Lancia under his complete control, using him as a "fake Mukuro". It has been mentioned that Mukuro had never been photographed. It was mentioned that Mukuro, Ken and Chikusa had been locked up in Vendicare Prison, which is reserved for the most dangerous of Mafia criminals, who have committed crimes [Including crimes against the Mafia]. They planned a jailbreak on the eve of Mukuro's execution, resulting in the death of several wardens and prisoners, and later the escape of other dangerous criminals, including Lancia.
After the fight against Tsuna [where he lost], he is taken back into Vendicare Prison. Later, it was shown that Mukuro had sacrificed himself for Ken and Chikusa in their second attempt in escaping the Vendiche. [It was also mentioned that for their safety, Mukuro had agreed to be the Mist Guardian.] Mukuro, Ken and Chikusa seem to have a large dislike for the Mafia, most likely due to the experiments they endured as children. [Not only does Mukuro want to destroy the entire Mafia, he also wants to begin a world war to, I quote, “cleanse the world of its filth.”]
After becoming the Mist Guardian, Mukuro refuses to acknowledge any form of involvement with the Mafia when possible and views them with great contempt. He also seems to hold knowledge over the Mafia’s dark secrets, possibly even the secret of the Arcobalenos. [Cursed babies. Deadly infant hitmen. ] [There is also a small part where it shows Mukuro possessing the a boy while watching Tsuna.]
Later, another flashback sequence when Chrome Dokuro [after she was defeated] appears shows Mukuro’s hobby of taking a walk through dreams/illusions, where he met Chrome and gave her internal organs that she needed to live through the use of illusions. When Chrome was defeated, Mukuro shows that he can ‘possess’ Chrome, and that his body is not an illusion, but real flesh and blood. He defeats the other Mist Guardian Marmon, and disappears again.
The next appearance in the manga is when Tsuna was taken ten years later, and shows him possessing Leonardo Lippi, disguising himself within Byakuran’s ranks. [This was proven when Mukuro reveals himself and fights Byakuran. (Apparently, Byakuran had already known that he was Mukuro, though.)] The fight with Byakuran was not shown, but it was implied that Mukuro had lost. It was also mentioned that Mukuro did not die.
